Gives Good Sky started as an idea at the end of 2020 and came to fruition in the summer of 2021 as a energy vent for Owner & Entrepreneur Sarah Collins.

See, back in 2018, she visited a friend in St. Petersburg Florida and absolutely fell in love with the baked concrete, colorful graffiti, so much yummy food, cool salty sea breeze, gritty mix of creative yet eccentric artist types and flood of people from every corner of the world finding their second/third/fourth chance in life within the little thumb of land sticking out into the Gulf of Mexico that is Pinellas county. See, in Florida, she found a place to plant roots and not just survive, but fucking thrive.

But adulting and putting too much of herself into jobs that ultimately aren't her company clouded her day-to day-with distraction and dissatisfaction. That is, until one day she realized she had moved to this beautiful new place to not just find a new life, but to live it and fill it full of simple pleasures to be mindfully and intentionally savored.

Lake Erie doesn't have dolphins... or manatees... or ospreys... or pelicans... or cute little fiddler crabs. Michigan was cold and dreary and a blanket of sad gray clouds in the winter, or mostly flat blue sky's in the summer. Here though, the sky is soooooo often a beautiful dance of clouds and light, no matter the time of day or year. This place is magical and she wanted a way to meet the promise she'd made to herself when she'd first moved here, to not become one of the people that takes the beauty of this special place for granted. To get her toes covered in sand at the beach as much as possible. To watch the sunrise at the St. Pete Pier over Tampa Bay. To sit on the sea wall at Vinoy Park as much as possible and invite the Universe to send the the creatures her way. To not just be of the world, but to actively participate in it too.

So in the middle of a pandemic, feeling a bit blue and needing to reconnect with herself and her St. Pete, she designed a way to see and do more of what filled her soul with joy while learning skills and working on something to better herself and her situation through a passive income stream and the reenergizing challenge of pushing herself to grow, both personally and professionally.

Ultimately, the hope of Gives Good Sky is to also to encourage others to take a moment to enjoy the simple pleasures life has to offer if we only choose to see them. And to inspire others to find what fills them with joy and do more of it.
